Eating Adventures

Not everyone thinks pictures of messy toddlers (okay, one VERY messy toddler, especially) are cute. Maybe they are even gross. So that's what follows here, and if you are one of those people just skip over this post completely.

For the rest of you - we have been amazed at how much more able the girls are to feed themselves in the last few weeks. They are good at taking careful bites of most foods, and you can usually trust them on their own with minimal intervention. Lately, we've been starting a few new skills:

Steve is teaching the girls how to eat pasta - Exhibit A:

Clara has definitely got it down.

We've also been working on the girls using spoons on their own. It's a mixed bag - sometimes they're pretty good, and lots of times they aren't. Here are some of today's effort - you can see they were eating spaghetti, meatballs, and peas, but don't worry because we only had them try applesauce on the spoon, not those trickier foods.

Sometimes, though, you've just got to give up and dive right in without the spoon:

And for those of you who made it to the end of the post, here's the messiest picture of all - we like to call this one, Elena a la applesauce!
